  • Episcopal centre.

  • the eighth century, Saracens could not keep control of the city 
  • for more than a hundred years, the time of Madinat Barshiluna. 
  • The Carolingian Empire took control of the city, despite the 
  • constant attacks by Muslim forces that reached their climax 
  • with the 985 siege of Almanzor.
